Lake Weed Cutting & Harvesting in Southeast Michigan

We cut the weeds choking your boat lane, swim area, and shoreline, then haul them off the lake for good. Most jobs open up clear water off your dock the same day we run the harvester.

Overview

Mechanical cutting and harvesting, done right

Weeds take over a lake fast. One summer your water is clear. The next, you cannot get the boat off the lift without dragging a mat of vegetation behind you.

Here is what we do about it. Aqua Contracting runs an aquatic weed harvester across your waterfront. The machine cuts the weeds below the surface. A conveyor pulls the cut vegetation up out of the water and stacks it on the barge. Then we haul it off the lake and get rid of it. The weeds leave with us. They do not sink back down and rot on your lake bottom.

We work lakes all over Oakland County. Cass Lake, Union Lake, Elizabeth Lake, Pontiac Lake, White Lake, Walled Lake, and plenty more. Shea runs the equipment himself, so you are talking to the guy doing the work, not a call center.

Lake Weed Cutting & Harvesting on a Michigan lake

What cutting and harvesting fixes

If any of this sounds like your lakefront, harvesting is the fastest way to get your water back.

Jammed boat lanes

We cut a clear lane from your dock or lift out to open water so you can run the boat without fouling the prop.

Weedy swim areas

Nobody wants to wade through slimy vegetation. We clear the swim area down to open water for the kids and the dog.

Blocked shoreline access

We open up the water along your shoreline so you can fish, paddle, and actually use the frontage you pay taxes on.

Thick surface mats

When weeds top out and mat across the surface, the harvester cuts and hauls them off in one pass.

How the harvester works

The harvester is a floating barge with a cutter bar up front and a conveyor behind it. The cutter bar runs below the waterline and shears the weeds off, usually a few feet down. As the machine moves forward, the conveyor scoops the cut weeds out of the water and stacks them on the barge deck.

When the barge is loaded, we bring it back to shore, offload the vegetation, and haul it away. It is mechanical and simple. No chemicals go in your water. You stand on your dock and watch the weeds come out and the open water show up behind the machine.

How the harvester works

Why homeowners choose harvesting

Cutting and harvesting is the workhorse of lake weed control. For most lakefront owners it is the right first move.

Most affordable solution

Harvesting clears the most water for the least money, so it is the best value of the three services we run.

Prevents muck buildup

We haul the cut weeds off the lake instead of letting them die and settle. That keeps you from adding to the muck layer on your bottom.

Environmentally responsible

This is mechanical removal with no herbicides. Nothing gets sprayed into the water your family swims in.

Immediate results

You do not wait weeks for a chemical to kick in. The water behind the harvester is open the day we run it.

What to Expect

What to expect when you hire us

We keep it straightforward. You call, we look at your waterfront, and we tell you what it takes to clear it. First we talk through the problem and get eyes on your shoreline, either in person or from a few photos and a quick rundown of the lake. Then you get a clear price with no runaround. If mechanical harvesting on your lake needs an EGLE permit, we walk you through it and work inside Michigan's aquatic nuisance control rules. We do not guess at permits or cut corners on the state side. After that we schedule the job and run the machine. On a typical channel or waterfront, most jobs wrap up within a couple weeks from your first call to the finished cut. And yes, we offer payment plans.
